The Laughing Cow Comedy Club brings more fun to Hull in February

The Laughing Cow Comedy Club returns for a second show in Hull on February 25th following the great success of the sell out launch event in January.

The comedy club made its debut at the Octagon Centre in west Hull on January 28th. This show was a fantastic event which sold out a week in advance and the packed audience enjoyed the four comedians performing on the evening, Sam Brady, Kevin Dewsbury, Ray Kane and headliner Bill Woolland.

The second show is being held on February 25th at the Octagon Centre and this features three up and coming comedians from the national comedy scene, Mark Rough, Ben Schofield and Jay Hampson.

Headliner for the evening is Mark Rough, “The Mackem Motormouth”,

With over 3000 shows in his ten years as a professional comedian, Mark Rough is currently THE hot name on the corporate, cabaret, and sporting dinner circuit. His unique blend of gag telling and stories has seen Mark reaching out to new audiences all over the world, including Dubai, Spain, The Canary Islands, and Cyprus as well as a regular favourite across the national comedy circuit.

Ben Schofield first performed as a comedian in 2001. A scatological cerebral comic thinker with a keen eye for the absurd, he boastfully maintains the unique record of being the only comedian in the world (to his knowledge) to have written a joke about galvanising dustbins. This surely stands as a testament to his ability to mine comedy gold from even the most unlikely of seams.

28 year-old Jay Hampson’s youthful looks betray a clever and sometimes rude mind. Based in Manchester , he has been working and progressing through the circuit since 2009. Jay possesses excellent timing, a laid back delivery and intelligent material, drawing on topics as varied as his personal battle with social class, to the sexual inadequacy of endangered species. He was the 2011 Hull Comedy Festival / Ten foot City comedian of the year.

The Laughing Cow brings comedy capers to Hull

The Laughing Cow Comedy Club, is launched Hull during January. This follows in the footsteps of the very successful comedy marquee held at the Tribfest music festival in August and will incorporate both up and coming talent from the national comedy scene and the best local performers

The first gig is being held on Saturday 28th January at the Octagon Conference Centre in Walker Street, Hull from 8pm – late. This features headliner Bill Woolland (who supported Freddie Starr during 2009) Ray Kane (City Life Comedian of the Year 2006) & Sam Brady (Tenfoot City Comedian of the year 2010)

Bill Woolland is an observational raconteur from the Northern school of comedy, with a wicked Scouse sense of humour. He headlined the inaugural Hull Comedy Festival dinner along with celebrities Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby (as per photo). He is also in demand at all the national stand-up comedy clubs.

Ray Kane is a stand-up from Halifax with a great personality, which comes to the fore when he performs the occasional comedy song. He has some great material about pussycats, and usually headlines his set with a ditty about the pitfalls of wearing a “hoodie”.

Sam Brady easily won the annual Tenfoot City Comedian of the year competition in Hull in 2010. He then took a successful one man show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August and continues to make bigger waves on the comedy circuit.

The comedians have been identified by John Marshall of the Buzz Comedy Club which is nationally renowned for discovering the best comedy talent including Peter Kay, Lee Evans, John Bishop, and Jason Manford

“We have already sold 80% of the tickets and expect to sell out and we intend to run the comedy nights the last Saturday night in each month and have already sourced another 3 comedians for each night in February and March with tickets now on sale.

Tribfest goes upwardly mobile

Tribfest, the nationally renowned music festival, will be moving to a prestigious new venue for summer 2012. The festival’s growing reputation for organising one of the country’s most innovative and affordable weekend music festivals means it now needs room to expand and believes it has now found the ideal venue to further enhance the event.

Festival organiser, Ed Faulkner, is very pleased to announce that the August 2012 Festival will be held at Sledmere in the magnificence parkland surrounding Sledmere House. Already well known for hosting some of the regions most significant outdoor events, including the Caravan Club National Rally this year, this new venue will once again enhance the Tribfest’s reputation as a really high quality event.

Attendance at Tribfest has grown substantially over the past five years to a record of over 4,000 participants this year; many of whom are now regular attenders. The 2011 festival staged over one hundred music, comedy and other entertainment acts and was prominently featured in The Sun newspaper where it was very favourably reviewed.

Sledmere will give Tribfest the opportunity to provide enlarged camping and entertainment areas within what is generally regarded as one of the finest landscaped parks in the region and will place the event and participants within the very heart of the glorious Yorkshire Wolds countryside.

Festival Director Ed Faulkner said

“Each year we have strived to make Tribfest better than ever and the move to Sledmere could provide a potential permanent home for the event through the facilities available here and the opportunity to further expand the event. It has been important for us to keep the festival within East Yorkshire and we hope we have found the best possible location to develop the Tribfest experience for many years to come. We are very grateful for the support we have received from Beverley Polo Club and the people of Tickton over the last three years, but the location cannot cope with our future developments but we hope that our local fans will be willing to move with us.

Sledmere is situated 7 miles north-west of Driffield and 10 miles from Beverley with good road connections to the motorway network, East Coast Resorts and major towns and cities ofHull,York, Bridlington, Scarborough andLeeds.

A celebration of Tribfest 2011 is also being held at the Octagon Centre in Hull on November 26^th. The event will feature a twenty minute documentary on the festival which has been created by local film makers Panopticon Film productions. A film of the entire 2011 event has been recorded and they are hoping to reach an agreement with a TV production company to develop this footage into a documentary on the festival. Tickets are still available for the celebration event which also features a local band, comedian and disco. Tickets are £10 and available from www.tribfest.co.uk
